This pop recording from the Philippines is titled "Ulan." The band Parokya Ni Edgar, known for their witty pop-punk songs and often strange subject matter, formed in Ateneo High School in Manila. The six students who formed the group were vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer and dancer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno. Initially named Comic Relief, the group specialized in performing parodies of well-known songs. In 1994, the band started performing at Club Dredd, a hub for alternative music in Manila. Their eccentric outfits and humorous stage antics quickly made them local favorites. Universal eventually signed the band with assistance from Richard Tan, who managed the Philippine punk groups the Youth and Teeth. Robert Javier of The Youth produced Parokya Ni Edgar's 1996 debut, *KHANGKHUNGKHERRNitZ The Album*. This unusually titled album achieved platinum status within six months.
