Parokya Ni Edgar, known for their witty pop-punk from the Philippines, began as high school students performing parodies of popular songs. Their early success included the platinum-selling 1996 debut *KHANGKHUNGKHERRNitZ The Album*. The band, comprising vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno, gained local fame in Manila's alternative music scene with their oddball outfits and goofy stage antics. They often incorporated melodies from artists like The Clash and Bob Dylan, adapting them with humorous Tagalog lyrics. This approach is evident in their pop recording "The Ordertaker."
