This pop recording from the Philippines, titled "Sing," emerges from a musical tradition shaped by a band known for its witty pop-punk songs and often strange subject matter. The group, which originated in Ateneo High School in Manila, Philippines, was formed by six students: vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer and dancer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno. Initially performing under the name Comic Relief, the band specialized in creating parodies of well-known songs. Their career took a significant turn in 1994 when they began performing at Club Dredd, a prominent venue for alternative music in Manila. Their distinctive stage presence, characterized by oddball outfits and goofy antics, quickly made them local favorites. This led to their signing with Universal, a deal facilitated by Richard Tan, who also managed Philippine punk groups like the Youth and Teeth.
