This pop recording from the Philippines is titled "Salamat Po." The band, Parokya Ni Edgar, formed in Ateneo High School in Manila with six students: vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer and dancer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno. Initially named Comic Relief, the group specialized in performing parodies of well-known songs. By 1994, the band began performing at Club Dredd, a prominent venue for alternative music in Manila. Their distinctive oddball outfits and goofy stage antics quickly established them as local favorites. Eventually, Universal signed the band with the assistance of Richard Tan, who managed the Philippine punk groups the Youth and Teeth. Robert Javier of the Youth produced Parokya Ni Edgar's 1996 debut, *KHANGKHUNGKHERRNitZ The Album*. This unusually titled album achieved platinum status within six months.
