Parokya Ni Edgar, the Manila-bred group that stands as the Philippines’ reigning court jesters of pop, writes witty, idiosyncratic pop-punk tracks that balance unapologetic, offbeat humor with raw, unguarded emotional weight, and their track Rosas extends the decades-long creative legacy that has made them a staple of Filipino music culture for both underground fans and mainstream audiences alike. The band formed as a group of six students at Ateneo High School in Manila, bringing together vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer and dancer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno, who first launched their creative partnership under the name Comic Relief, a moniker that perfectly encapsulated their early focus on performing parodies of well-known songs, a playful foundational approach that would shape the irreverent, genre-bending work they would produce long after rebranding as Parokya Ni Edgar, translating loosely to the Parish of Edgar.
