The six-man collective that would grow into one of the Philippines’ most beloved pop acts first came together as a group of students at Manila’s Ateneo High School: vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer and dancer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno. Early on, performing under the name Comic Relief, they cut their teeth crafting and playing parodies of well-known songs, a playful origin that laid the groundwork for a career defined by equal parts irreverent wit, unexpected emotional weight, and cross-scene appeal that connected with underground rock fans and mainstream pop listeners alike. Long after rebranding as Parokya Ni Edgar, the band carried that early unpolished, joyful energy into every iteration of their work, including the live recording Papa Cologne (Live), which captures the unscripted, raucous charm that turned their earliest club sets into local must-see events.
