Parokya Ni Edgar, the Filipino pop band that has reigned as the country’s most enduring and beloved court jesters, adds My Shattered Belief to a discography defined by equal parts sharp wit, boundary-pushing subversion, and unflinching emotional weight, a throughline that has shaped their decades-long career from their high school origins to their status as a globally recognized staple of Philippine music. The band first formed at Manila’s Ateneo High School, when six students—vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer and dancer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno—came together to make music under the original name Comic Relief, cutting their teeth performing playful parodies of well-known international tracks, honing the subversive sensibility that would define their later work.
