Rooted in the bustling Manila independent music circuit that shaped generations of Filipino pop and rock acts, Gitara (Live) captures the electrifying stage presence of a group that grew from a ragtag high school outfit to one of the most beloved mainstream acts to emerge from the Philippines. Formed by six students at Manila’s Ateneo High School, the band first operated under the name Comic Relief, building their early reputation performing parodies of well-known songs before rebranding to embrace the playful, irreverent identity that would make them local legends. Their rise began in earnest in 1994, when they started playing regular sets at Club Dredd, the Manila venue that functioned as the hotbed for the country’s burgeoning alternative music scene.
