The Filipino pop recording "Gising Na" features the witty musical style of Parokya Ni Edgar, a band known for its humorous and often unusual songs. Formed in Ateneo High School in Manila, the group, originally named Comic Relief, gained local popularity for their parodies of well-known songs and their goofy stage antics. After signing with Universal, their 1996 debut, *Khangkhungkherrnitz The Album*, achieved platinum status within six months. The band continued to blend comedy with more serious material on their second album, *Buruguduystunstugudunstuy*, which included the controversial hit "Please Don't Touch My Birdie." In 1999, their video for "Harana" was recognized as the Asian Viewers' Choice at the MTV awards in New York City.
