From the Philippines, this pop recording is titled "Christmas Party." The country's reigning court jesters, Parokya Ni Edgar, specialize in witty pop-punk songs, often with strange subject matter. The band formed in Ateneo High School in Manila, Philippines, with six students: vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer and dancer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno. Originally named Comic Relief, the group initially focused on performing parodies of well-known songs. In 1994, the band began performing at Club Dredd, a hotbed for alternative music in Manila. Their oddball outfits and goofy stage antics quickly made them local favorites. Universal eventually signed the band, with assistance from Richard Tan, manager of Philippine punk groups the Youth and Teeth. Robert Javier of The Youth produced Parokya Ni Edgar's 1996 debut, *KHANGKHUNGKHERRNitZ The Album*. This unusually titled album achieved platinum status within six months.
