This pop recording from the Philippines is titled "BTS." The band Parokya Ni Edgar, known in their home country as the "reigning court jesters" of Filipino pop-punk, formed in Ateneo High School in Manila. The six original members were vocalist Chito Miranda, back-up singer and dancer Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab CheeKee, bassist Buwi Meneses, and drummer Dindin Moreno. Initially performing under the name Comic Relief, the group specialized in parodying well-known songs. By 1994, the band was a regular act at Club Dredd, a prominent venue for alternative music in Manila. Their distinctive stage presence, characterized by "oddball outfits and goofy stage antics," quickly made them local favorites. The band secured a contract with Universal, aided by Richard Tan, who managed other Philippine punk groups like the Youth and Teeth. Robert Javier of the Youth produced Parokya Ni Edgar's 1996 debut, *KHANGKHUNGKHERRNitZ The Album*, which achieved platinum status within six months.
