About this Song
Across the decades, rock and roll has carved a distinct, unshakable niche within Philippine creative culture, weaving itself into the fabric of local creative expression that balances the genre’s foundational global origins with the specific energy, perspective, and creative autonomy of makers working across the archipelago’s many islands, each bringing their own relationship to the raw, unapologetic core of rock and roll to every work they release into the world. This tradition of reinterpreting and reinvigorating rock and roll through a distinctly Philippine lens has persisted for generations, with new sounds joining the legacy of the genre’s local history every year, each adding a new layer to the ongoing story of what rock and roll can be when shaped by the unique cultural, social, and creative contexts of the Philippines.
