Filipino pop has long drawn creative depth from cross-pollination with indie and alternative rock, blending local artistic sensibilities with global reference points to create a sound that feels both rooted in its home context and broadly resonant with audiences across regional and international scenes. Out of that fertile creative landscape emerged Orange & Lemons, a band that would come to define many of the best traits of that blended pop sound, formed in 1999 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Clem Castro, alongside drummer Ace Del Mundo and his brother JM del Mundo on bass. Early in their run, the group added Mcoy Fundales as a second vocalist, a role he held from the band’s formation through the end of its original first chapter in 2007.
