The Filipino pop sound "Pabango ng 'yong mata" emerges from a musical tradition shaped by alternative rock, indie pop, and experimental music, reflecting influences from bands such as The Smiths, The Beatles, and the Eraserheads. This track is part of a body of work that includes three albums, with one achieving double platinum status and another being recognized as Album of the Year at the 2007 NU Rock Awards. The group behind this recording has experienced a significant evolution, initially forming in 1999 with a core lineup of a singer-songwriter/guitarist, a drummer, and a bassist, and later including a second vocalist until 2007. After a decade-long hiatus, the group reformed in 2017 as a trio, marking their return with new material. This reformation also saw them commemorate the 15th anniversary of their debut album by releasing an updated version in 2018.
