Filipino pop has long been a space for cross-genre experimentation, where acts weave together global alternative influences and local creative sensibilities to build bodies of work that resonate across generations, defying rigid genre boundaries to carve out unique spaces within the country’s dynamic musical landscape. It is within this rich, evolving sphere that Orange & Lemons formed, a band that would become one of the most beloved and critically celebrated acts to emerge from the turn-of-the-millennium Filipino music scene. Founded in 1999 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Clem Castro, alongside drummer Ace Del Mundo and his brother JM del Mundo on bass, the group’s core line-up expanded shortly after its formation to add second vocalist Mcoy Fundales, who remained with the band through the end of its initial 2007 run.
