From the Philippines’ rich, decades-spanning independent music circuit comes Hanggang Kailan (Umuwi Ka Na Baby), a pop recording tied to one of the country’s most influential cross-genre groups, Orange & Lemons. The band first formed in 1999, brought together by singer-songwriter and guitarist Clem Castro, who recruited drummer Ace Del Mundo and the drummer’s brother, JM del Mundo, to handle bass, rounding out the core trio that would anchor the group’s early creative output. Mcoy Fundales joined as a second vocalist from the band’s formation, a role he held through the group’s first run of activity, which concluded with its original split in 2007. Across that first stretch of years, Orange & Lemons built a signature sound that wove together threads of alternative rock, indie pop, and experimental music, drawing heavily from the legacies of beloved, generation-spanning acts that left their mark on both global and local rock and pop landscapes: The Smiths, The Beatles, and iconic Filipino band the Eraserheads.
