Orange & Lemons formed as a Filipino indie pop and alternative rock band in 1999. The group was founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Clem Castro, who launched the project alongside drummer Ace Del Mundo and Aceâs brother JM del Mundo, who took on bass duties for the bandâs original lineup. Former member Mcoy Fundales served as the groupâs second vocalist from its formation until its last public appearance as its initial iteration in 2007. The bandâs core musical identity blends alternative rock, indie pop, and experimental music, pulling heavy influence from well-respected acts spanning multiple generations, including The Smiths, The Beatles, and the Eraserheads. Across its run, the group released multiple full-length albums, and earned widespread commercial success with its sophomore project, Strike Whilst the Iron Is Hot, which released in 2005 and reached double platinum status. The bandâs final album of its initial run, Moonlane Gardens, was named Album of the Year at the 2007 NU Rock Awards.
