Orange & Lemons emerged in the Filipino music scene in 1999, founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Clem Castro, who built the group’s core lineup alongside drummer Ace Del Mundo and Del Mundo’s brother JM, who took on bass duties from the band’s earliest days. Former member Mcoy Fundales joined as the group’s second vocalist shortly after formation, holding that role through the band’s initial run, which concluded in 2007. From their first local shows to their first studio releases, the group shaped a distinct musical identity that wove together strands of alternative rock, indie pop, and experimental music, drawing deep inspiration from a range of well-respected cross-generational acts that spanned global and local icons, including The Smiths, The Beatles, and seminal Filipino band the Eraserheads.
