Canadian R&B singer Kira Huszar, known as LOONY, hails from Scarborough, Ontario, where she began teaching herself to sing as a child and later attended rock music summer camp. Her musical journey continued through high school with her first mixtape release, leading her to study English Literature at McGill University in Montréal. There, her appreciation for writers like James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, Virginia Woolf, and T.S. Eliot deepened, significantly influencing her songwriting. LOONY's sound is a blend of pop, R&B, and soul, frequently described by critics as neo-soul and R&B, anchored by an intimate, emotional, and soulful vocal delivery. Her debut single, "A Small Flame," and her first EP, "Part 1," both arrived in 2018. The sophomore EP, "JOYRiDE," released in April 2020, delved into her relationship with her old neighborhood and past experiences, mixing neo-soul and R&B with her characteristic emotional voice.
