About this Song
Rock and roll as a creative framework has flourished across the Philippines for decades, taking root in local creative scenes that reimagined the global genre’s core identity to fit the unique cultural and creative priorities of creators building work rooted in their own contexts, turning an internationally ubiquitous form into a distinctly local mode of expression that retains all the foundational impulses that made rock and roll a global cultural force. Soap O Pera sits firmly within that long legacy of Philippine rock and roll, an entry in the expansive, diverse canon of sounds that have emerged from local creative hubs across the country, each adding their own layer to the rich, evolving history of the genre within the archipelago.
