About this Song
The creative spark that birthed this track first ignited as part of the urgent, unignorable quake from the innermost core of NIKI’s being, the same wave of inspiration that would eventually expand and solidify into her third studio album, Buzz. Titled Selene, this pop sound emerges from the Philippines’ thriving artistic community, carrying the same intentional, unflinchingly personal creative identity that defines every work NIKI builds. As part of the sprawling body of work that makes up Buzz, Selene fits neatly into the universe of storytelling that NIKI has refined across her career, her songwriting remaining as intimate as ever even as she explores bigger, bolder themes that speak to the complexity of growing and moving through the world as a young woman chasing what she wants.
