MYMP, also known as Make Your Momma Proud, is an acoustic band formed in 1996 in Quezon City, Philippines, by Jacques "Chin" Alcantara. The band transitioned from an amateur rock band to pop music with a female vocalist in 2000. Nina (Marifil Niña Girado) was the band's first female vocalist from 1999 to April 2001, before she left for a solo career. Juris Fernandez took over as lead vocalist from 2001 to November 2009. MYMP's recording career began after Raymund Ryan Santes, then station manager of iFM 93.9, saw them perform live and worked with a producer to develop their debut album. Their debut album, *Soulful Acoustic*, was released in 2003 by Ivory Music & Video and has since been certified Platinum. The band gained commercial success with the original song "A Little Bit," written by Santes, which won the People's Choice Favorite Song award at the 2004 Awit Awards.
