About this Song
R&B, as a genre rooted in Black American musical innovation that has spread across the globe to become one of the most influential and widely embraced forms of contemporary music, operates as a flexible vessel for creative expression that adapts to the cultural landscapes it enters, retaining its core identity as a space for emotional depth and artistic exploration while taking on new textures shaped by the creators who take it up. Across every region that has welcomed R&B into its local creative ecosystem, the genre has spawned vibrant sub-scenes that speak to the specific experiences of the communities that nurture them, each adding a new layer to the genre's expansive global history, each offering new ways to understand the power of R&B to connect creators and audiences across vast cultural and geographic divides.
