About this Song
Rooted in the Philippine archipelago’s long unfolding of R&B practice that draws from global iterations of the form while anchoring itself to the specific cultural context that gives all locally made creative work its distinct, unmistakeable resonance, Broken String exists as a sound that occupies a space all its own within the continuum of work coming out of the country’s vibrant community of creators who turn to R&B as a vessel for expression that can hold both the universal tendencies of the genre and the specificities of the place from which it emerges.
