About this Song
The Philippines’ thriving hip-pop landscape has long centered narrative depth as a core pillar of its artistic identity, leaning into the nation’s centuries-old tradition of oral storytelling to frame personal, unfiltered accounts of life, loss, connection, and growth within the accessible, rhythm-driven structure that defines the genre. Long before modern popular music took root across the archipelago, Filipino communities passed down complex, character-driven epics through oral performance, weaving the specific journeys of individual heroes and everypeople into narratives that reflected the shared values, struggles, and hopes of the groups that carried those stories forward from one generation to the next.
