About this Song
The breadth of creative practice that defines popular music-making across the Philippines draws from generations of cultural storytelling, shared narrative traditions that translate seamlessly into the pop format that has grown to resonate both within local communities and far beyond the archipelago’s borders. The creators who build this work draw from a long line of performers who have turned the pop framework into a vessel for nuanced, relatable storytelling, weaving together the specific cultural touchstones that make Filipino pop distinct from other iterations of the genre around the world, while still tapping into the universal impulses that make pop such an enduring and accessible form of creative expression.
