About this Song
Pop practice in the Philippines carries a legacy of intentional craft that centers connection, weaving together the breadth of regional cultural touchstones that define the archipelago’s creative output while leaning into the accessible, resonant core that makes pop such a unifying global form. This legacy shapes every sound to emerge from the country’s thriving pop ecosystem, including Thick And Thin, a work rooted in the long history of Filipino creators making pop that feels both deeply personal to local audiences and universally approachable for listeners far beyond the archipelago’s borders. The Philippines’ pop landscape has long catered to a wide, dispersed community that includes the hundreds of distinct linguistic and cultural groups spread across the country’s thousands of islands, as well as the global Filipino diaspora that spans every continent, carrying ties to their home country across oceans and generations.
