About this Song
Maki, the Philippines-based alternative and city pop singer-songwriter, crafts work that balances disarming softness and unvarnished emotional weight, a tension that has turned his intimate songwriting into a cross-cultural touchstone for listeners navigating their own grief and longing. His signature formula of wrapping heartbreaking, painful narratives in easy, melodic pop structures has allowed his work to cut through noise both at home and across global audiences, a trajectory that hit a new peak following the runaway success of his 2023 track “Saan?”. That breakthrough song didn’t just earn him sustained attention from listeners scattered across the Philippines and the world at large; it also turned Maki from a cult favorite emerging artist into a touring staple, carrying him to different stages, cities, and communities across his home country, letting him connect face to face with the fans that turned his music into a defining staple of modern Filipino pop.
