About this Song
R&B practices that have taken root in the Philippines carry a long, layered legacy of reinterpreting the core of the genre to center local creative sensibilities, turning a form with deep roots in Black American cultural expression into a vessel for stories and perspectives that feel both intimately tied to the archipelago’s distinct communities and aligned with the global evolution of R&B as a constantly shifting, ever-expanding art form. This legacy frames every choice woven into 1 of 1, the sound crafted to sit at the intersection of those local Filipino traditions and the forward-thinking, rule-breaking strain of R&B that has redefined the genre’s boundaries for audiences around the world.
