About this Song
R&B as a global genre draws distinct creative energy from regional scenes that reimagine its core frameworks to fit local cultural contexts. The Philippines sustains one of the most active and widely engaged R&B scenes in Southeast Asia, with creators across the archipelago adding unique layers to the genre’s established traditions. This sound, titled Singsing, emerges from that ongoing lineage of Filipino R&B creation. Every sound categorized within Philippine R&B carries the weight of a decades-long history of local creators engaging with R&B’s core forms, reworking them to speak to experiences specific to life in the Philippines, while also connecting to the global community of R&B fans and creators. The title Singsing sits within that growing body of work that expands both the scope of Filipino music and the global reach of R&B as a flexible, ever-evolving genre.
