About this Song
Seoul City carries the core framework of pop, a genre that has long served as a universal canvas for creative expression across the Philippines, where artists working in the space turn to pop’s adaptable structure to explore connections between their local creative roots and the global cultural forces that shape contemporary art making across continents. The work emerges from a national creative community in the Philippines that has long embraced pop as more than a narrow mainstream category, leaning into its ability to translate personal and collective experiences into work that can travel across cultural divides, while still retaining the specific perspective that comes from building a creative practice rooted in the archipelago’s diverse artistic heritage.
