About this Song
Creators working to shape contemporary pop from the Philippines bring a range of layered, specific perspectives that distinguish their work within the global landscape of the genre, every sound they craft carrying the weight of the cultural space that nurtures their creative choices. The work that evolves from these creators does not exist in isolation, but rather grows out of a long, interconnected lineage of pop makers in the Philippines who have redefined what the genre can hold, expanding its boundaries to center the experiences and creative visions that are rooted in their home context. Every pop sound to emerge from this space carries the mark of that lineage, tying it to the creators who came before and the ones who will build on its foundations long after, creating a continuous thread of creative evolution that moves through the genre’s output from the region.
