About this Song
Lauv’s creative labor on Kids Are Born Stars situates the work firmly within the thriving, globally influential ecosystem of Philippine pop, a category of music that has shaped mainstream popular culture across continents for decades, while retaining a distinct sense of place that sets every work emerging from its creative networks apart from pop produced in other global hubs. The pop genre, at its core, is built to bridge divides, to turn individual creative vision into a shared experience that can resonate with listeners regardless of their background, location, or relationship to the music industry, and that foundational trait makes it the perfect framework for creators working in the Philippines, who have long used pop’s accessibility to share their perspectives with audiences far beyond their home country’s borders.
