About This Album
Kulayan Natin anchors itself to a long, evolving tradition of Filipino jazz that stretches back nearly a century of creative exchange, local reimagining, and community-centered artmaking that has positioned Philippine jazz as one of the most distinctive regional iterations of the genre anywhere in the world. As an album rooted in that lineage, it carries forward the core impulse that has defined jazz made within and by Filipino communities across generations, tying the formal innovation that is central to jazz’s global identity to the specific cultural sensibilities that shape creative expression across the Philippine archipelago.
