About this Song
Rooted in the archipelagic creative ecosystem of the Philippines, the R&B tradition that nurtures works like Namumula draws from a long lineage of cross-cultural exchange that has shaped the genre’s evolution across Southeast Asia, never bound by rigid definitions that would box creators into narrow expectations of what their work can be or who it can reach, instead growing and shifting to accommodate the specific perspectives and lived experiences of the makers who carry the genre forward into new eras, adapting to the shifting currents of global creative exchange while retaining a core sense of place that anchors every work that emerges from this thriving community of creators.
