About this Song
Pop music from the Philippines exists as a sprawling, varied catalog of works that tie together creators and audiences across the nation’s thousands of islands, as well as the millions of people of Filipino heritage who build communities around shared musical favorites across every corner of the world. Total Eclipse of the Heart joins that extensive catalog, holding its place alongside countless other pop works that emerge from the same creative ecosystem that prioritizes connection, craft, and the ability of a pop sound to cross boundaries of region, background, and circumstance to resonate with anyone who encounters it. The classification of this sound as pop places it within a framework that unites it with works that explore every range of human experience, all tied together by the core identity of Philippine pop as a space where creative vision can thrive without being boxed into narrow, restrictive definitions of what the genre must be.
