About this Song
R&B’s evolution as a global genre has long been shaped by the distinct cultural contexts that creators draw from, each regional scene reworking the genre’s core structural and emotional DNA to speak to the specific experiences, histories, and creative traditions of their communities, and the Philippine creative landscape that nurtured the sound behind Kapit - 2021 Remaster stands as a powerful example of this transformative, place-rooted reimagination. To situate this work within the intersection of Philippine artistry and R&B is to center a community that has contributed to the genre’s global expansion for decades, building a body of work that both honors R&B’s transnational lineage and carves out a space that is uniquely its own, unbound by generic expectations of what the genre can or should sound like.
