About This Album

Bruno Mars, born Peter Gene Hernandez in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 8, 1985, is a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose career began professionally at age four with his family's band, the Love Notes, where he was known for his Elvis Presley impersonation. Moving to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue music, he adopted the stage name "Bruno Mars" to avoid being pigeonholed as a Latin artist. Mars is recognized for his three-octave tenor vocal range, dynamic live performances, retro showmanship, and musical versatility, frequently performing with his band, the Hooligans. He co-founded the production team the Smeezingtons with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine, through which he wrote and produced songs for artists such as Flo Rida, CeeLo Green, and Travie McCoy. His debut solo single, "Just the Way You Are," released on July 20, 2010, served as the lead single from his debut album, *Doo-Wops & Hooligans*.
