About this Song
Amiel Sol's 2023 pop single from the Philippines, "Ikaw Lang Patutunguhan," speaks to finding direction and purpose in life through a loved one, emphasizing a borderless love and a connection not bound by limitations. Born Amiel Isaac Sol in 1999, the Filipino indie singer-songwriter and musician is known for his mid-tempo alternative pop and OPM (Original Pilipino Music) sound, often characterized by gentle melancholy and deep introspection. Sol's musical style blends romantic lyricism with an ambient folk sound, typically featuring restrained arrangements built around simple guitar parts and understated vocals. He cites Filipino musicians Johnoy Danao and Ebe Dancel as his main songwriting influences, and Bruno Major and Lizzie McAlpine for musicality. Sol began playing guitar at a young age and participated in Battle of the Bands competitions during high school. He started releasing music online during the COVID-19 pandemic, composing and recording songs at home.
