As the genre has grown, moving through waves of mainstream crossover in the 1990s and 2000s that brought Filipino R&B to regional audiences across Southeast Asia, and later into a new era of independent creation that prioritizes experimental twists on classic structural and thematic throughlines, each new entry in the canon carries the weight of that long, layered evolution.
