About this Song
For decades, the Philippines has nurtured one of the most vibrant, enduring R&B scenes in Southeast Asia, a community of creators that reinterprets core tenets of the genre to speak to the specific lived experiences of audiences across the archipelago, while resonating with soul and R&B fans across the world. Rooted in a long history of local creators engaging with global R&B’s evolution, from early soul iterations of the 1970s to the modern, experimental strains that define 21st century work, Filipino R&B carries a signature warmth and intentionality that sets it apart from other regional scenes, prioritizing space for emotional vulnerability that aligns with the cultural emphasis on connection and authenticity that runs through nearly all creative output from the nation.
