About this Song
R&B as a global creative form has long been shaped by the communities that adapt its core sensibilities to reflect their own cultural, social, and artistic landscapes, and the Philippines has nurtured one of the most consistently innovative iterations of the genre, with a decades-long lineage of creators reworking R&B’s foundational elements to speak to the specific realities and creative impulses that define creative work across the archipelago. This rich, evolving lineage is the backdrop against which every new R&B sound emerging from the Philippines is contextualized, and the assigned chronological profile style allows for a clear, nuanced understanding of how the genre shifts, grows, and reinvents itself with each new entry that joins the larger body of work.
