About this Song
Stretching across more than 7,000 distinct islands, the Philippines’ cultural fabric is woven from hundreds of unique indigenous and community-specific practices, and folk music as a genre serves as one of the most enduring threads tying those disparate traditions into a shared, recognizable body of cultural expression that carries meaning for people across regional and linguistic boundaries. Within that broad, deeply rooted landscape of folk sound, Golpe De Gulat exists as a distinct recording that carries the core markers of the genre’s commitment to preserving and extending the community-centric musical heritage that has been nurtured and passed down through generations across the archipelago.
