Filipino rapper, singer, and songwriter Gloc-9 is known for his fast-flowing "chopper" vocal style and for addressing social issues such as injustice, poverty, and patriotism in his songs. Considered a trailblazer in the Pinoy Hip-Hop scene, Gloc-9 began his musical career with the gangsta rap group Death Threat in the 1990s. His debut solo album, *G9*, appeared in 2003, followed by *Ako Si...* in 2005, which featured a more laid-back R&B sound. The 2007 album *Diploma* included nu-metal-esque elements in songs like "The Task Is Done" and "Torpedo." His albums *MKNM: Mga Kwento Ng Makata* (2012) and *Liham at Lihim* (2013) have been certified Gold and Platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI). Gloc-9 has collaborated with numerous OPM artists, including Francis Magalona, who described him as "a blacksmith of words and letters, and a true Filipino poet." His collaboration with Ebe Dancel on the song "Sirena" (2012) became a socially relevant hit, addressing LGBTQ+ issues.
