Gloc-9, a Filipino rapper, singer, and songwriter, performs "Hari Ng Tondo" with Denise Barbacena. Known for his fast-flowing "chopper" vocal style, Gloc-9 is considered a trailblazer in the Pinoy Hip-Hop scene. Fellow Filipino rapper Francis Magalona once described Gloc-9 as "a blacksmith of words and letters, and a true Filipino poet." Gloc-9's songs frequently address social issues such as injustice, poverty, and patriotism. He began his musical career in the 1990s with the gangsta rap group Death Threat. His solo debut, *G9*, was released in 2003, followed by *Ako Si...* in 2005, which featured a more laid-back R&B sound. His 2007 album *Diploma* included nu-metal-esque elements in tracks like "The Task Is Done" and "Torpedo." Both *MKNM: Mga Kwento Ng Makata* (2012) and *Liham at Lihim* (2013) have received Gold and Platinum certifications from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry.
