About this Song
The Filipino alternative rock band fitterkarma, formed in Metro Manila in 2023, presents "Pag-Ibig ay Kanibalismo II," a track that originated in 2024 as part of founder Joao de Leon's thesis EP for his music production degree. This song, whose title translates to "Love Is Cannibalism II," features vocals from former members Addy Pantig and Calvin Borja. The band's name, stylized in all lowercase, combines titles from two Radiohead songs, "Fitter Happier" and "Karma Police," reflecting a blend of indie rock, alternative rock, and art rock in their sound. Their musical approach incorporates acoustic and electric guitars, warm vocals, and occasional heavier parts for live performances, while their lyrics frequently delve into themes of obsessive or masochistic love, devotion, and emotional struggles, drawing inspiration from Philippine folklore and personal experiences. Critics have noted similarities between fitterkarma's horror-themed storytelling and The Cranberries' "Zombie.
