About this Song
The Filipino R&B creator behind Someone to Love works within a rich, evolving landscape of creative practice that has positioned the Philippines as one of the most vibrant hubs for contemporary R&B in Southeast Asia, a space where creators reimagine the genre’s core traditions to speak to the specific experiences of audiences across the archipelago and the global Filipino diaspora. R&B has long held a central place in Filipino popular music, with creators across generations embracing the form’s capacity to hold nuanced, unguarded expressions of the full spectrum of human experience, turning the genre’s global vocabulary into something that feels deeply rooted in the rhythms of daily life across the country’s thousands of islands.
