About this Song
The craft of assembling beloved, scattered recordings into a single, seamless continuous work is the core creative practice that underpins this Filipino mix, a project that gathers all of the most iconic new wave hits of the 1980s to form a unified, dance-ready whole. Titled New Wave Megamix Disco, the work fits squarely within the Music/Mix genre, a category that centers the creative labor of recontextualizing existing recordings to give listeners an entirely new way to engage with familiar material, a goal shared by the broad ecosystem of remixes, medleys, and covers that define this strand of grassroots creative practice.
