About this Song
Dj Mogo operates within the long, vibrant lineage of Filipino DJs who create work that resists the easy categorization that shapes most commercially distributed recorded sound, a legacy that stretches back decades of creators testing the boundaries of what sound can be, who it can reach, and how it can connect with audiences both within the Philippines and across global communities of listeners who seek out work that doesn’t fit the standard molds of popular recorded music. The title Hawak Mo Ang Beat emerges from this context, a work that carries the core ethos of independent DJ practice from the Philippines, where creators often reject the rigid sonic boxes that streaming platforms, record stores, and music journalists rely on to organize and describe creative output.
