About this Song
December Avenue’s work carries the distinct perspective of creative collectives emerging from the Philippines’ robust local music ecosystem, a community that has spent decades turning intimate, personal storytelling into work that resonates far beyond the archipelago’s borders, even as it remains rooted in the specific nuances of life and connection that define Filipino experiences around the world. With their sound Eroplanong Papel, the group leans into the quiet power of a title that translates directly to “paper plane” in the national language of their home country, a phrase that carries layers of metaphorical weight immediately recognizable to anyone who has ever turned a scrap of paper into a vessel for hope, longing, or unspoken wishes, sent soaring into the sky with a small, hopeful flick of the wrist.
